Position Overview: Trench Shoring Company is seeking a highly skilled HR Manager to join our expanding Human Resources team. This new position will report to the HR Director and requires previous experience in managing others and working in the construction industry. The HR Manager will focus on compliance, benefits administration, and payroll coordination. This role demands an individual skilled in creating and executing processes, capable of establishing structure in previously unstructured environments.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and oversee compliance with federal, state, and local HR policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular audits of HR practices and records to ensure compliance.
  • Stay up to date on changes in employment laws and regulations, and implement necessary updates to company policies.
  • Provide guidance to management and employees on compliance-related matters.
  • Assist with the administration of employee benefits programs. 
  • Assist with open enrollment processes and communicate benefits information to employees. Experience working with benefits providers to resolve issues and ensure optimal service delivery.
  • Assist with payroll reporting and address payroll-related inquiries and discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with finance and accounting departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Administer and manage employee leave programs, including vacation, sick leave, FMLA, and other types of leave. Strong understanding of how to coordinate California and Federal leave policies. Maintain accurate leave records and track leave balances in Paycom.
  • Coordinate with payroll to ensure accurate leave reporting and payment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in HR management, with a focus on compliance, benefits, payroll, and leave management.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency with HRIS and payroll software; previous experience with Paycom is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.

Physical Demands and Working Environment:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
  • Occasionally required to stand.

  • Continually required to talk or hear.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

  • The employee must frequently wear Trench Shoring Company mandated safety equipment (including but not limited to high-visibility vest, hard helmet, approved safety glasses and safety-toe boots.
