Job purpose

 

The Human Resources Manager will oversee and manage the Human Resources (HR) department and is responsible for recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, training, employee relations, policy enforcement, and ensuring compliance with employment laws.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the HR Information System (HRIS), including recruiting for both exempt and non-exempt positions, creating and placing job advertisements, conducting background checks, and coordinating drug testing.
  • Manage the onboarding process including new hire paperwork, benefits, and safety orientation. Administer various employee benefits such as 401(k), medical, dental, life insurance, disability benefits, and voluntary benefits.
  • Responsible for benefit renewals, annual open enrollment, and completing required Form 5500 filings.
  • Investigate and resolve employee complaints and concerns, ensuring timely and fair resolution.
  • Oversee all leave of absence cases, including FMLA, company-paid leave, workers’ compensation, and unemployment administration.
  • Complete required annual reports and surveys, including EEO-1, OSHA 300A Form, and wage surveys.
  • Process and review monthly insurance provider bills for accuracy, ensure they are coded correctly, and facilitate payment.
  • Manage monthly performance review notifications and communicate service award notices to employees.
  • Provide training on various HR-related topics and policies to ensure compliance and development.
  • Communicate with government agencies (e.g., unemployment, EEOC) to resolve employment-related issues.
  • Maintain official employee roster and ensure employee files are up to date and compliant with regulations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business management, or related field.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience as an HR Generalist or Management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS, and talent management systems.

PREFERRED

  • Master’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
  • Certified Professional:  APHR, PHR/SHRM-CP, SPHR/SHRM-SCP, or CEBS.
  • At least 3 years of HR management experience.
  • Previous experience with a food & beverage distributor.
