HR Leader

The Human Resources Manager serves as a strategic partner to leadership, delivering best-in-class HR practices that support Staples Energy’s mission of improving lives through energy efficiency and community impact. This role provides a broad range of HR services while proactively advancing workforce strategies, strengthening leadership capability, and fostering a collaborative, people-first culture rooted in accountability and continuous improvement.


This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being both strategic and hands-on and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves when needed.

Requirements
  • Provide and implement best HR practices aligned with organizational goals and objectives. 
  • Partner with leadership to drive critical business outcomes through strategic HR solutions. 
  • Collaborate across departments to deliver mentoring, coaching, and guidance to leaders and managers. 
  • Lead and support a full spectrum of HR services, including employee relations, talent management, performance management, and compliance. 
  • Ensure strong compliance with California labor laws, company policies, and regulatory requirements; maintain audit-ready HR practices and documentation. 
  • Act as a trusted advisor in conflict resolution, ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant outcomes. 
  • Develop and execute workforce planning strategies, including staffing, succession planning, and organizational design. 
  • Facilitate coaching sessions and leadership development initiatives to enhance management effectiveness and overall leadership capability. 
  • Align HR initiatives with both short-term and long-term business objectives.  
  • Drive continuous improvement and elevate the HR function to the next level through innovation and proactive solutions. 
  • Effectively manage multiple priorities and pivot quickly in response to changing business initiatives. Utilize HR systems and data analytics to inform decision-making and improve HR effectiveness.
  • Consistently follow through and deliver on commitments across all HR initiatives. 
  • Demonstrate a team-first mindset with a willingness to support general office or administrative tasks outside of core HR responsibilities as needed.

 Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Proven experience in an HR leadership role with a track record of advancing HR functions and organizational effectiveness. 
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about HR services and translate strategy into actionable plans. 
  • Strong experience in workforce planning, staffing, and organizational development. 
  • Skilled in coaching, mentoring, and leadership development. 
  • Exceptional conflict resolution and employee relations experience. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a well-organized and focused manner. 
  • Strong working knowledge of California employment laws, compliance requirements, and HR best practices. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization. 
  • Proven ability to deliver results and meet commitments consistently.

Working Conditions 

  • Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods
  • May occasionally lift up to 15–20 lbs
  • Ability to travel locally if needed

Compensation

  •  $84,500 – $93,000 annually  
  •  Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and internal equity.
