Summary

The Human Resources Generalist assists in the interpretation and administration of the Human Resources policies, procedures and programs.  This role will support various business partners and leads HR practices that will develop a high-performance culture. This will entail an emphasis on safety, employee engagement, quality, productivity, goal attainment, recruitment, and the ongoing development of the workforce. The individual in this role will possess effective communication, critical thinking, organizational skills, and high attention to detail.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manages requisition process for assigned business lines and manages entire recruitment process for hourly non-exempt and salaried non-exempt employees 
  • Develops job descriptions, posting positions, and working closely with hiring managers to facilitate candidate screening, interviewing and calibration processes 
  • Develops and leads new hire on-boarding processes and ensures timely enrollment in benefit programs and completion of new hire paperwork 
  • Administers and interprets company policies to workforce 
  • Assists with quarterly employee newsletter  
  • Administers FMLA, workers compensation, headcount, exit process, and coordinates/reports employee status transactions 
  • Maintains and updates employee records as well as report generation by period and compiles metrics for reports 
  • Leads the administration of open enrollment and employee engagement processes throughout the year 
  • Leads employee focused events and functions while keeping a pulse on culture and employee satisfaction 
  • Performs applicable employee relations functions to include conflict resolution and investigations as needed
  • Assists and supports all HR activities/duties as needed
  • Provides timely customer service to employees as a member of the HR team
  • Ability to occasionally flex hours to accommodate a 3-shift operation 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related discipline preferred
  • 3 years Human Resources experience in a manufacturing environment required 
  • Effective communication skills required 
  • Must possess strong planning, interpersonal, and written skills 
  • Must be able to champion and adjust to change including working with deadlines 
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications 
  • PHR/SPHR, preferred 
  • Experience with HRIS systems preferred
  • ADP and Kronos experience highly preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of basic employment law practices to include state and federal compliance law
  • Knowledge of payroll administration and practices
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Ability to clearly articulate policy and practices to employees at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent time management and organizations skill
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships to ensure excellent customer service from the Human Resources department
  • Ability to use effective problem solving and conflict resolution techniques
  • Ability to always maintain a high level of confidentiality 

Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment, which includes office, production floor, and warehouse settings.  Exposure to industrial noise, forklift traffic, operating equipment, and temperature variations is typical.
