Hotel Equities, a multi-award-winning hotel development and hospitality management company, is currently searching for a remarkable Senior Human Resources Generalist for the Kansas City Airport Marriott in Kansas City, MO.

Salary Range: $65,000 to $75,000 annually (commensurate with experience)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Human Resources Generalist to support and lead key HR functions including recruitment, employee relations, compliance, benefits administration, performance management, and training within a hospitality environment. This role serves as a trusted partner to leadership and employees, helping foster a positive workplace culture while ensuring alignment with company policies and employment regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruitment and Onboarding: Lead full-cycle recruiting efforts including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, offer extensions, and coordination of new hire orientations and required documentation (I-9s, etc.).

  • Employee Relations: Serve as a primary point of contact for conducting investigations, providing guidance to leaders on workplace issues and handling employee concerns 

  • Compensation and Benefits: Administer health insurance and retirement plans (401k), support payroll processes, and manage employee leave programs including FMLA.

  • Performance Management: Partner with managers on performance evaluations, goal setting, coaching, and development plans to improve employee engagement and productivity.

  • Training and Development: Identify organizational training needs; conduct, track, and ensure compliance with all brand, state, and federal required training; coordinate compliance and soft skills workshops; and support ongoing professional development initiatives.

  • Policy and Compliance: Develop, update, and enforce HR policies and procedures; ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws; and maintain accurate employee records.

  • HRIS and Administration: Oversee employee data within HR Information Systems (HRIS), maintain personnel files, and manage offboarding processes including exit interviews and terminations.

  • Hospitality Operations Support: Collaborate with hotel leadership to support staffing needs, employee engagement initiatives, and service culture expectations in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

  • Employee Engagement: Plan and execute employee engagement activities 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of progressive HR experience, including employee relations and compliance supporting a workforce of 150 team members

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred

  • Prior hospitality or service-industry HR experience preferred, Marriott brand experience desired 

  • Strong knowledge of employment laws including ADA, FMLA, and OSHA

  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite

  • ADP Workforce Now or comparable payroll system 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities

  • Proven organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills

  • High level of professionalism with the ability to maintain confidentiality

  • HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Basic PC knowledge with minimum typing speed of 45 WPM, 

  • Ability to write and communicate professionally; bilingual fluency is a plus

  • Hospitality-focused mindset with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong analytical skills with knowledge of professional practices and procedures

  • Ability to interpret policies and determine appropriate courses of action

  • Supervisory or management skills required 

Physical Requirements

  • Excellent hearing to address employee concerns, conduct interviews, and perform phone work

  • Excellent vision to review documentation, read applications, and maintain records

  • Strong verbal communication skills for interviews, counseling sessions, and phone work

  • Strong reading comprehension and literacy skills for preparing and reviewing documentation
