Job Description:
Note, this is a hybrid role requiring onsite work in our Redwood City, CA office. Local candidates only. No relocation.
Alation is seeking a Senior HR Business Partner to join our People team in Redwood City (we work in a hybrid model - you’ll join us in our office twice a week to collaborate, connect, and enjoy a team atmosphere!).
Reporting to the Director, HRBP, this role is for someone who leads with urgency, ownership, and scrappiness - a hands-on partner who cares deeply about building exceptional teams and outcomes.
You'll support our Sales, Customer Solutions, and Finance departments and be a force-multiplier for L&D initiatives like manager development, performance, and engagement efforts across Alation. This is a high-impact role with visibility, complexity, and the runway to make things better every day.
What You’ll Do:
Partner with the Director, HRBP to plan, launch and facilitate performance cycles, manager development, employee engagement efforts and more.
Be a thought partner to business leaders, connect people strategy to business goals and help teams scale without losing what makes them great.
Influence decisions from org design to team health to leadership effectiveness, you'll work with your clients to shape how we grow and win.
Help drive performance and engagement through impactful people programs: coaching, calibration, talent planning, rewards, etc.
Turn insights into action: Use data, feedback, and judgment to flag patterns, solve problems, and help leaders make better people decisions.
Flex between the strategic and the operational: supporting daily people needs while contributing to big-picture initiatives.
Relentlessly improve our ways of working - simplify processes, automate what’s manual, and raise the bar for how we support our teams.
What You’ll Need:
Have 8+ years of progressive HRBP experience - preferably in tech, AI, data, or other fast-paced, global companies.
Have partnered directly with Sales and Customer Success teams, and thrive in their high-speed environments.
Are fluent in core HR capabilities: performance, feedback, coaching, team dynamics, engagement, and talent planning.
Navigate ambiguity with confidence and know when to ask, act, or escalate.
Are known for follow-through, not just good ideas. You own outcomes, and take a solutions-focused approach.
Enjoy building relationships across levels and functions, and can go from exec strategy to employee coaching without whiplash.
Think and act like an owner: proactive, decisive, and solution-oriented.
Embrace the mess - as long as it leads to progress over perfection.
Bonus: experience with Workday, conversational Spanish fluency, and/or SPHR/SHRM-SCP certification.
