Description

Position Summary

Provides senior level support in functional areas of Human Resources including but not limited to recruitment and employment, personnel records, employee and/or labor relations, job evaluation, compensation management, benefits administration, organization development, training and special projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

65% Major Responsibilities - Shepherding the Employment Cycle

  • Lead recruitment efforts for all exempt, non-exempt personnel and temporary employees to include drafting job descriptions and job postings in collaboration with hiring managers, promoting diversity awareness in hiring practices.
  • Manage pre-employment process to include conducting reference and background checks as well as coordinate skills assessments.
  • Lead onboarding process for new hires, coordinating with cross-functional departments to deliver an exceptional “first-day” experience.
  • Handle all administrative tasks for onboarding, new-hire orientations and exit interviews, including data entry in human resources information systems (HRIS) and audits for accuracy and compliance.
  • Partner with Human Resources Manager with the restructuring of Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and HRIS to document/reflect HR departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintain organization, accuracy and comprehensiveness of electronic personnel files – conducting regular audits.
  • Performs benefits administration, claims resolution, change reporting, administer open enrollment and communicating benefits information to employees and to Accounting/Finance/Payroll department.
  • Maintain employee records in compliance with state and federal requirements

25% Additional Responsibilities – Supporting Policy Development, Maintenance & Execution

  • Administer the communication, interpretation and upkeep of employee handbook, employee directory, and organizational chart, and contribute to policy development.
  • Effectively communicate and execute necessary changes to policies and procedures to staff as determined by Human Resources Manager and Vice President of Administration.
  • Administer all Leave of Absence programs and processes including transitional work and accommodations (STD, FMLA, CFRA, Workers’ Comp claims, etc.)
  • Administer bonus plans, employee referral bonus plans, merit processes, and routine/special request reports.
  • Partner with Human Resources Manager with planning, coordinating and executing company-wide training to include annual anti-harassment training, performance management training, injury & illness prevention training.

10% Other Duties as Assigned

  • Participate in administrative staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars as directed.
  • Support the Human Resources Manager in employee relations matters and/or workplace investigations.
  • Support the Human Resources Manager and key stakeholders to map critical HR processes for implementation.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field or equivalent experience related work experience
  • Minimum 5+ years progressive Human Resources Generalist experience
  • Certifications for Human Resource Professionals (PHR) preferred.
  • Previous experience with union environments a plus
  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record within company required standards preferred.
