HR Generalist – Construction | California

Location: California | Salary: $75,000–$85,000 + Bonus & Benefits

Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support California operations. You will manage HR functions, including benefits, payroll, employee relations, compliance, labor relations, and full-cycle recruitment. The ideal candidate has construction industry experience, knowledge of California employment laws, and experience in unionized environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive a People-First culture, promoting engagement, safety, and performance.
  • Manage HR operations: employee files, annual reviews, surveys, job descriptions, and compensation administration.
  • Ensure HR compliance with California and federal employment laws, including union labor relations.
  • Lead recruiting efforts: job postings, interviews, onboarding, and employee lifecycle support.
  • Provide HR guidance on policies, benefits, and employee relations issues.
  • Support culture, engagement initiatives, and organizational development programs.

Qualifications:

  • Must-Have: Associate's degree or equivalent HR experience; 5+ years HR experience in construction or materials industry; knowledge of California employment law; union experience with Collective Bargaining Agreements; strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Nice-to-Have: Bachelor's degree; HR certifications (SHRM-CP, PHR, SPHR, PHRca); bilingual in English/Spanish; ERP/HRIS experience.
