POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Human Resources Manager position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Consults with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Plans and directs activities of staff in carrying out such functions as developing sources of qualified applicants, conducting screening interviews/interview sessions.
  • Oversee the J-1/International work and travel program and summer interns to include housing and transportation of the students.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Acts as liaison between Recruitment and Benefits vendors for union employees. 
  • In charge of monthly union benefits bills. 

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel:

  • Assists with special projects related to Human Resources
  • Assists with Benefits Open Enrollment Season 
  • Assists with Employee Engagement Surveys 
  • Attend and plan career fairs on property as well as colleges and universities for recruitment efforts

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or two to four (3-5) years of experience in a related area preferred.
  • Proven familiarity with aspects of human resource functions, federal and state laws, insurance plan administration, wage and hour laws and exposure to confidential information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft OfficeWord, Excel, Outlook required.
  • Union Experience preferred.
