HR Manager
Reports To: Superintendent / Director of Operations (as assigned)
Position Summary
The HR Manager leads HLA’s human resources systems to ensure we recruit, develop, and retain high-quality staff. This role oversees hiring, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, evaluations support, and HR operations—building a strong staff experience while maintaining confidentiality and legal compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Staffing
- Manage recruitment cycle: postings, screening, interviews, selection, offers
- Develop staffing plans aligned to enrollment and school priorities
- Maintain applicant tracking and hiring documentation
Onboarding & Employee Experience
- Lead onboarding and orientation for new hires
- Maintain personnel files and HR systems with accuracy and confidentiality
- Support staff engagement/recognition and internal communications
Employee Relations & Performance Support
- Advise leaders on employee concerns, attendance, conduct, and performance
- Support evaluation timelines, improvement plans, and documentation
- Support investigations and resolution processes as needed
Compliance, Policies & HR Operations
- Ensure compliance with required trainings, licensure/certifications, background checks
- Maintain HR policies/handbook acknowledgements and documentation
- Coordinate benefits administration and liaise with vendors (as applicable)
- Partner with payroll to ensure accurate staffing changes and timekeeping support
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (HR, Business, or related field preferred)
- 4+ years HR experience (school/mission-driven org preferred)
- Strong knowledge of HR compliance, documentation, and best practices
- Excellent communication, organization, and discretion
Preferred
- SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR (or actively pursuing)
- Experience with HRIS/ATS systems and benefits administration
- Experience supporting leadership teams in fast-paced environments
