HR Leader

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Making recommendations regarding employee relations and workplace issues
  • Administering and overseeing employee onboarding, transitions, and separation processes across the firm
  • Managing leave administration processes and employee communications
  • Handling day-to-day HR operational issues and employee inquiries
  • Managing recruiting processes, candidate communications, interview coordination, and hiring workflow administration across offices
  • Managing HR compliance tracking and follow-up initiatives
  • Administering retirement plan operational processes, employee communications, and compliance-related documentation
  • Conducting preliminary investigations and gathering documentation
  • Responsible for overseeing and resolving benefit/ADP file feed and payroll discrepancies
  • Managing various HR projects (including AI/automation tasks) and operational follow-through
  • Overseeing certain trainings, tracking, and compliance-related initiatives
  • Assisting with implementation of HR operational strategy and process improvements
  • Exercising independent judgment in prioritizing HR operational needs
  • Researching and supporting compliance with multi-state employment laws and internal policies
  • All other duties or tasks, as needed.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Understanding of wage and hour compliance 
  • Strong working knowledge of California employment laws and HR best practices
  • Experience with leave administration (FMLA, CFRA, ADA, PDL, workers’ compensation) 
  • Knowledge of employee relations and corrective action processes 
  • Understanding of recruiting, onboarding, and performance management practices 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters appropriately 
  • Strong written communication 
  • Professional verbal communication 
  • Ability to communicate with attorneys, leadership, and staff at all levels 
  • Clear documentation skills 
  • Professional judgment regarding tone and confidentiality 
  • Assess employee relations situations and determine appropriate next steps 
  • Prioritize issues independently 
  • Make day-to-day operational decisions without requiring constant oversight 
  • Identify potential compliance risks

  • Interpret and apply firm policies consistently 
  • Supporting employees and managers across multiple locations 
  • Maintaining consistency in HR processes firm-wide 
  • Coordinating with office leadership

  • Handling high-volume HR operational activity
