BASIC PURPOSE:
Oversees core human resources functions, encompassing key areas such as recruiting and onboarding, benefits, wellness programs, leave of absence, workers’ compensation, regulatory compliance, AskHR, and HRIS administration. Serves as a hands-on leader with working knowledge across all HR functions, ensuring continuity by providing operational back-up where needed. Supports critical areas, including employee relations, to maintain consistent service during absences, vacancies, and periods of increased demand, while aligning HR operations with organizational objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensures consistent application of and adherence to personnel policies and procedures, as well as all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Oversees the preparation, accuracy, and timely submission of all required federal, state, and regulatory reports.
- Oversees, monitors, and directs day-to-day human resources operations, ensuring efficient, accurate, and compliant delivery of services across HR programs and systems.
- Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises HR staff, fostering a high-performing, service-oriented team and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Conducts performance evaluations, administers corrective actions, and provides recommendations related to employee performance, development, and disciplinary matters.
- Maintains working knowledge across HR functional areas and ensures continuity of operations by providing coverage for essential responsibilities during staff absences, vacancies, or periods of increased workload.
- Provides hands-on support in critical HR functions, including employee relations matters, investigations, and issue resolution, serving as an escalation point for complex or sensitive issues.
- Promotes cross-training, documentation, and consistent processes to support seamless service delivery and effective coverage across HR functions.
OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Serves on management committees, cross-functional teams, and project task forces as required, contributing HR expertise to organizational initiatives.
- Develops and facilitates training programs to address performance gaps and support the development of team members and people leaders.
- Participates in continuous improvement initiatives, including process enhancements, documentation, and cross-training efforts to strengthen team effectiveness and operational coverage.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.
Compensation for this position is commensurate with the candidate’s experience. This role is also eligible for a performance-based bonus tied to established metrics.
QualificationsKnowledge and Experience
- Knowledge of policies, procedures and regulatory compliance standards involved in human resources, benefits, and payroll.
- Specialized training and proficiency in areas specific to FLSA, ERISA, Payroll, Leave of Absence, ADA, Workers Compensation, Staffing, and HRIS.
- Understanding of principles and processes involved in business and organizational planning, coordination, and execution including strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership, production, financial outcomes and customer service.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or other related field is required.
- A minimum of seven years of Human Resources Management experience preferred.
- Supervisory and employee training experience is also required.
- Ability to speak, read and write English for safety and productivity reasons.
