Job Summary:
The Human Resources Manager supports the Leman Academy of Excellence by coordinating HR policies and programs with a strong focus on employee relations and compliance. This role ensures the organization follows all applicable laws and regulations in both Arizona and Colorado. The HR Manager works closely with the COO to develop, implement, and evaluate HR processes, policies, and activities while providing guidance to school leaders and overseeing key HR operations across all campuses.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assists in the management of all activities related to the administration of HR functions across the organization.
- Oversees HR Coordinators and Payroll positions, providing guidance, support, and direction.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable Arizona and Colorado employment laws, including wage and hour, leave requirements, mandatory reporting, and education-specific regulations.
- Supports school leaders with staffing, employee relations, HR compliance, and day-to-day HR needs across all campuses.
- Assists in resolving complex employee relations issues and conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
- Oversees progressive discipline processes and supports termination decisions in accordance with company policy.
- Provides coaching and guidance to school leadership teams on performance management, corrective action, and HR best practices.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to employee management, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance; partners with internal and external legal resources as needed.
- Manages salary and compensation processes, ensuring internal equity and regulatory compliance.
- Oversees credentialing, fingerprinting, background checks, and state-required clearances for all school staff.
- Maintains IVP compliance in accordance with the Arizona Department of Education and the Arizona Charter Schools Association.
- Assists with Title IX compliance and required reporting.
- Oversees mandatory training programs (e.g., mandated reporter, harassment prevention, safety, Title IX) and ensures timely completion across campuses.
- Manages Workday and email configurations for employees.
- Manages the Learning Management System within the HRIS and assigns employee trainings as necessary.
- Manages the employee recruitment and onboarding processes, including substitute staffing compliance.
- Assists with Independent Contractor compliance.
- Develops, prepares, and analyzes ongoing and ad-hoc HR reports, including staffing levels, turnover, absenteeism, recruitment metrics, applicant tracking, EEO/affirmative action, compensation, and promotions.
- In collaboration with the COO, designs and improves HR processes to enhance efficiency and support organizational growth.
- Provides HR policy guidance, interpretation, and updates; assists with employee handbook revisions and multi-state policy alignment.
- Supports employee engagement and retention initiatives, including stay interviews, exit interviews, and trend analysis.
- Identifies HR-related risks and partners with leadership to implement mitigation strategies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Five years of progressively responsible experience in human resources.
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) current certification preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Provides day-to-day oversight and guidance to HR Coordinators and Payroll staff, including workflow support, task delegation, and performance feedback.

Compensation:
Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000 annually, DOE
Leman Academy offers a very competitive benefits package and overall compensation will be commensurate with talent, experience and education.
As a Leman Academy of Excellence Employee, you shall be afforded benefits if you work thirty (30) hours or more each week, all as prescribed in the Personnel Policies of the School, and such revision thereof as are made and approved by the Board of Directors of the School all of which have been adopted by the School. Benefits eligibility and enrollment for Employees working thirty (30) hours or more per week include but are not limited to:
- Voluntary medical insurance, vision plan, and dental plan; enrollment for Employees beginning employment are effective the first of the month following start date of full time employment unless agreed upon by administration.
- Life Insurance, Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Long and Short Term Disability benefits are effective the first day of the month following start date of full time employment.
- If the Employee is terminated, the Employee will be covered with all benefits described above until the last day of the month in which they terminate.
- Benefits eligibility and enrollment continue for current admin/Employees who sign a new Agreement. Retirement plan and long-term disability eligibility and enrollment are based on the beginning date of employment in the initial Agreement.
- Leman offers a 401k to all employees.
